Double page spread

This is a double page spread on JayZ, as you can clearly see: Lighting reveals the main subject really well as red lighting is used coming in from the left side, The colour is red which gives a colour connotation of danger and Jeopardy, This combined with Blue light coming in from the right expresses goodness and loyalty which shows how there may be another side to the story and creates a heaven & hell effect.
Also on the page There is a symbiotic relationship between JayZ and RapRadar, This means that people from a wider audience will be more likely to buy the magazine as lovers of JayZ and lovers of RapRadar will both be enticed to buy the magazine. Furthermore There is a direct mode of address as JayZ is looking directly as the screen enchanting the viewer and making that magazine specifically stand out from the rest.
The Layout of the magazine is very effective, They have decided to place a picture of the left and put some text on the right side, This separates the images instead of combining the image and text together allowing more detail on JayZ to be added.

Drafting and planning - Preliminary contents page

This is my preliminary contents page, I have clearly listed what the magazine will contain, because I haven't made it jam packed with pictures to entice my audience i have involved a picture of a up coming singer.

practice preliminary cover

This is my practice for my Preliminary cover for my magazine, i have cropped the image to reduce the amount of unnecessary scenery on the sides and on the bottom. unfortunately This isn't a medium close up so i cant use this image for my preliminary, This is my practice and it represents the sort of genre and style of music i want my magazine to have.

research into magazine music genre

One key area of music which i thoroughly enjoy is Commercial Reggae, Reggae is a genre of music which recently developed in Jamaica in the late 1960's, Over the years reggae has developed into one of the most well known music genres thanks to various artists E.g: Bob Marley, Damian Marley, Dennis Brown and many more.
Reggae has its own unique sound which is very relaxing and really connects with its audience as it follows a steady beat. Unfortunately this genre of music doesn't appeal to all audiences as they much prefer more upbeat music.

research into similar products - contents page

This Contents page has so much crammed onto a single page that it has a very unique look to it that some viewers of a specific audience may find it attractive, I personally feel it is too compact for my liking so i will most probably keep to a relaxed structure with a powerful role model to bring in the attention of viewers.
Due to being so compact they can fit more onto the page such as price offers and News articles, i feel this defeats the purpose of a contents page as people want to know what page there main attraction is on and don't really care for other articles as they can be on separate pages.

research into similar products - potential contents page

This context page has a very classy scheme to it as it has strayed away from being really jam packed and has a relaxed structure and order, As you can see the pages are clearly labelled and they have lots of space to clearly state which page has the specific item you are looking for with in the magazine, This is a very handy scheme but it pays a price as it is not as eye catchy as other compact contents pages so they have thought of a way to attract attention and they have done this with the use of a well known model to entice the audience e.g 50 cent.

organisation and research into similar products - inspiration

After a considerable amount of research i have found that NME provides me with lots of inspiration for my magazine, I find that there use of props and costumes really makes an impact on the audience and they have there own way of drawing the audience in to buying there magazine.
I really like the way all these magazines appear to be very compact as there is lots of information crammed into one picture, this makes the magazine seem larger than it actually is which entices the audience to go and see what else it offers.

potential target audience and research into similar products - Q magazine inspiration

'Q' the music magazine deals with all genres of music ranging all the way from Rock to Hip Hop, I feel Q will be the right magazine to advertise my band as it is a well known magazine which attracts a lot of customers thus increasing the popularity of the band .
Quite along time ago they creators known as Bauer was originally going to call the magazine 'Cue' which would have the sub title 'The modern guide to music and more', this would of been very catchy but the name was changed to just Q so there wouldn't be confusion with the snooker magazine 'Cue'.
Q are in relations with the other music magazines such as Mojo which is also owned by Bauer, They also advertise at music festivals like Glastonbury producing free newspapers and a magazine at the end of the festival.

codes and conventions task - drafting and layout

This really helped me in the construction of my magazine as provided me with the idea that i could blur out my images to make them a perfect background of my magazine double page spread.

codes and conventions task - drafting and layout

This magazine provided me with the thought and inspiration that will allow me to put the mast head behind the image and to really capture the magazine look. Also the cover line is very catchy

codes and conventions task - drafting and layout

Kings of Leon are Americas biggest rock band of the ages so for this reason i have placed a sub title stating this, The Font style also links in with the title for effect. This task helped me to understand what fonts would suit each individual picture

codes and conventions task - drafting and layout

The effect of this front cover was very precise and powerful which made me link the font in with the colour scheme fro even further effect. This magazine helped me to understand the power or certain effects and the effect they can create to attract the viewer into buying the magazine. Also it helped to to understand the clash between colours and helped me create a suited colour scheme throughout my magazine

codes and conventions task - drafting and layout

For this Front cover i have chosen a Red colour font as it flows with he colour of the mast head and appears to be very eye catchy as it stands out, also One of his latest albums was 'watch the throne' so the title relates to him album but also states how is he is the best. This picture helped to understand the effects of using certain facial expressions on my front cover to lure the audience in.

This is my favorite band on a magazine cover, i feel the colour scheme is very effective.
The black keys is an american rock band who formed in Akron Ohio in 2001. The group consists of Dan Auerbach who plays guitar and Patrick Carney who plays the drums.
They originally began as an independent act a duo who forged as distinct blues rock sound in its early albums, which they recorded in basements and produced themselves. They eventually arrived as one of the most popular garage rock artists in 2012.

Drafting and planning - best fonts suiting picture

We had to choose which font best suited this fictional music magazine, I selected E to be the best as it suited the masthead and the overall layout of the magazine, They are labelled 1 to 6, 1 being the best and 6 being the worst.
